Alabama Spring Break Fishing Report March and April 2012 for Gulf Shores and Orange Beach Deep Sea Fishing and Inshore Bay Charters

alabama-spring-break-fishing-charters-in-orange-beach-and-gulf-shores-2012Spring Break 2012 has started off with a little bit of wind and some really warm weather on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Our fishing charters have mostly consisted of 6 hour deep sea fishing trips and 4 hour inshore bay fishing charters. Most of our guests are really impressed with how we have been spot on with the fishing reports. Some days the fishing is good during March and some days it is tough. One thing for sure, we are catching some fish and having some kind of fun.

The inshore bay fishing in Orange Beach has really been getting good. The Sheepshead are biting like crazy around the Alabama Point Jetties, Underneath the Perdido Pass Bridge and a few other spots around Orange Beach. Our fishing Guide, Captain Keith has been fishing some in Gulf Shores and over in Mobile Bay. He has been catching Speckled Sea Trout and some really nice slot sized Redfish. We have had a lot of rain the first week of March and the freshwater has pushed some of the fish out of the rivers, out into saltier water. This pattern of fishing is hard to figure out sometimes because of the weather we are experiencing this Spring Break in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.

The deep sea fishing has been what we call 50/50. That means so far, we have only been able to get out on the water 50 percent of the time due to rough water and strong easterly winds. The fronts have been weaker this year, but for some reason, we are experiencing strong winds for longer periods of time. We do expect the second week of March to really start settling down a bit and will be able to get our guests offshore during their spring break beginning the week of March 10 through the second week in April.

gulf-shores-spring-break-inshore-bay-fishing-charters-march-april-2012The deep sea fishing charters in Orange Beach are producing some really nice size Red Snapper, but we are having to turn them loose because they are not in season. The season for Red Snapper begins in June and will probably run for about 35 days in 2012. That means only one thing, you can go out on a 6 hour deep sea fishing charter with Distraction Charters or Intimidator Sportfishing and have a trip of a lifetime. The Spanish Mackerel are arriving a few at a time and those fish are caught right off the beach during their migration. We call them little fatties but when you put some on the grill, you will really be surprised as to how good they taste. They are also loaded with Omega 3's.

If you are wanting to bring your family down to Orange Beach for Spring Break, you need to take them fishing. Deep sea fishing is our preference because of the size of the fish you will be able to catch. Inshore fishing is great and our guide, Captain Keith Powell of Inshore Alabama Fishing is really putting them in the boat. Either way, you will have a good fishing experience when you fish with the Orange Beach Fishing Cooperative Charter Boats. Each captain owns and operates their own boats and will ensure you get the trip you paid for.
