Wild Dolphins Hanging Around Orange Beach Charter Boat and Predicts Pregancy of Woman on Board

July 30, 2011 - Orange Beach, Alabama - If we had not seen it with our own eyes, we would not have ever believed that a wild Bottlenose Dolphin would come up to the Orange Beach Charter Boat named Distraction and give Captain Troy Frady, the "Nod" that there was a customer onboard that was pregnant.

The day was like any ordinary day. The Charter Boat Distraction departed from the Orange Beach Marina on Saturday morning with the Stegall family. They were headed offshore for a deep sea fishing adventure. After Captain Troy stopped the boat on the first artificial reef, a large Bottlenose Dolphin came up to the boat and began diving and swimming around." At first, we did not notice anything unusual, but this Dolphin kept staying on the side of the boat where one of our female customers was fishing," said Captain Troy. He continued by saying, "The behavior of the Dolphin was similar to years past, when we just happened to have ladies on board that were pregnant. The Dolphins payed more attention to the lady that was pregnant than it did the fish that were being caught by other anglers."

Captain Troy moved the charter boat about two miles further offshore, where his family anglers began fishing. It did not take long before the wild Dolphin arrived at the scene and began demonstrating the same behavior as was seen on the last fishing spot. Renee and Courtney Stegall were busy fishing on opposite sides of the boat, but the Dolphin kept getting closer and closer to them. The Dolphin kept sticking her head out of the water and looking at the fishermen.

For nine years now, Captain Troy has seen dolphins tell 7 women that they were pregnant. "It is the most amazing thing we have ever seen," said Troy. He contintued by saying, "We have not seen this behavior in over two years by any Dolphins, but this one was certainly giving the women the look over." Captain Troy said, "Out of curiosity, are any of you women pregnant or recently found out that you were pregnant?" Renee said, "Not me, I have had my two and there are none in the works, I assure you." Courtney did not say a word, so Captain Troy thought nothing of it and went back into the wheelhouse of the charter boat. In just a few seconds, everyone was cheering on the boat. Captain Troy thought that someone caught a big fish or something. He stepped outside to see what all the commotion was about and found out that Courtney and her husband had just found out three days ago that they were going to have their first child and had not announced it yet.

Courtney told Captain Troy that It was true, and she was pregnant and that, she could not believe that he read the Dolphin's behavior and just happend to ask if anyone was pregnant? Courtney said that she and her husband were going to announce the pregnancy this weekend, but the Dolphin gave it away at just the right time.

Now if you are superstitious, don't be. It is common knowledge that Dolphins are smart and can do some amazing things with their sonar. You have to wonder if this was just luck or intuition on behalf of Captain Troy? It does not happen every day, but 8 women in 9 years have found out they are pregnant while charter fishing on the Distraction Boat in Orange Beach. Believe it, or not.

On facebook fan page named - Orange Beach Fishing Charters, Renee and Courtney are confirming this event. Renee has purchased the baby's first toy. It's a stuffed Dolphin. Imagine that!
